It's the first day of the Summer Holidays. Tim's gone to work and Rhiannon allowed me to sleep in!
She woke me up with breakfast in bed. How sweet! It was tea and toast.
I took a sip of tea. It tasted a bit odd, but I thought it was just me being half asleep. I woke up a bit more and noticed a greasy film lurking over the top of the tea.
Rhiannon was looking anxiously at me. Then she said "Can you taste the special ingredient?"...
"Mmmm, yes dear, what is it?"
"Cheese!"
What??? "Err, ah yes, but why darling?"
"Well, I know you love tea and you like cheese too"
Can't argue with that logic, can you? (I discovered much later Cheesy Tea was something she'd heard on Spongebob Squarepants – or as he's known in Japan, "Spongey-bobby Something-impossible-to-pronounce-let-alone-spell")
I moved onto the toast – it was a mixture of marmite and golden syrup...
Luckily she didn't stick around to make sure I ate and drank the toast and tea.
In case you are wondering about the safety of Rhiannon (aged 6) boiling a kettle of water – she didn't have to. As electricity in Japan runs at only 100V it would take about a week for an electric kettle to boil. Instead, we have one of these rather fabulous contraptions which dispenses hot water at the press of a button.
