This house smells quite musty. Still. It wasn't lived in for a few months and, with an allegedly damp room in the basement, I need to find some classy room scents. I like the wooden wands in pots of oil, but need to actually smell before buying, so can't purchase off the internet.
Another deeply unpleasant smell we experienced a few weeks ago was when a drain outside our house was blocked or something. A big lorry appeared to deal with it - two days in a row. Whatever they did pumped the worst stench in the world into the entire house. That was not good.
What is a good scent though, is the all-pervading perfume emanating from the trees and flowers in the neighbourhood. It's particularly and deliciously strong in the evening. I think the main notes come from lime trees (linden).
It's heavenly and very good for the soul.
