I have been searching for weeks for a simple bottle-green jumper or cardigan for Rhiannon's school uniform. And have come up with nothing.
Unlike the school in Tokyo, this one in Berlin is pretty flexible about uniform. For example, I can choose from five different colours of socks! Items can be ordered from Marks and Spencers or Next... as long as the colours are correct. Bottle green seems to be one of those colours that is interpreted in many ways though.
All the jumpers and cardigans in her size are out of stock. Everywhere. And I believe I have actually tried everywhere. If there is one in stock, the company doesn't deliver overseas. If she was aged 4, no problem. Ditto aged 16. But nothing in a size 9-10. I've scoured every shop I can find here (not many) and still nothing.
Incidentally, C&A is here. Do you remember them? They don't sell them either.
She's only got about eight weeks of school before the summer holidays start so I thought I might get away without this unavailable piece of uniform. Especially as the past couple of weeks has been wonderfully warm and sunny.
However, school started today (hooray!) and the temperature plummeted to 4 degrees C. Brrr. And it rained. So I sent her in wearing the cotton dress for summer term and an old grey fleece.
All I want is a bottle green v-necked jumper or cardigan. Very frustrating.
8pm Update! Thanks to a lovely lady who has offered to forward the parcel on, I have been able to place an order with one of the companies who don't ship overseas. Rhiannon will now be warm. Social networking is a fabulous invention. I've never met this kind person in real life, yet she is prepared to do this for me.
