I have to go to a cocktail party at the Embassy tonight on my own. Merle, my helper, is to babysit Rhiannon, but I have no intention of being late so she shouldn't be too troubled by Rhiannon playing up.
I fancied a shopping day so went to "my" antique store and bought a lovely granite frog for my garden. As you do!
Real frogs always return to spawn in the pond from which they hatched. So the frog is a symbol to ensure your family always come home to you. I couldn't resist this!
I'd also paid a visit to Tiffanys and treated myself to some silver trinkets. Can't resist those turquoise boxes either.
A very nice day by my standards!
In the evening I spent a couple of hours self-consciously standing around at the cocktail party before making my escape and got home in time to put Rhiannon to bed, albeit a bit later than she'd normally go.
Did some work on the PC to get a head start on the dreadlines before the Easter Holidays begin.
Then the phone rang. At 1am. Luckily I was still up. I panicked when it rang - it being so late here. Amazing how many dreadful thoughts can run through your mind in a few seconds.
It was my bank.
"Did you make these payments to xxx and xxx for £360 and £750?"
Some bastards have taken my credit card details off the internet for the 2nd time in a year. But well done to my fabulous bank for noticing the fraud so quickly. Luckily my bank is run by human beings who are on the ball and they know where I am (apart from thinking about the time difference) and recognise my spending habits… hmm!
So, all is well. But for now, I now have no credit card as I had to cut it up, but that's OK considering the past couple of days spending spree!
